The king above once burned with love for the Trojan Ganymede And he found something which Jupiter wants to be more than he was. However he did not deem worthy to turn into any bird Unless it was able to carry his lighting bolts. With no delay, having thrust false feathers in air he snatched the Trojan; Who now now mixes the nectar and attends the drinking coup of Jupiter and the unwilling Juno. |

'the king above' could also be 'the king of heaven', in either case refering to Zeus/Jupiter 'false feathers' or 'lying feathers' are Ovid's way of saying that the wings of the eagle weren't real, merely a disguise Zeus made for himself. |
